(May 28th, 2025) - Good things come to those who wait - that’s the philosophy drivers and fans alike are heading into the second attempt to start the 2025 Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series with!

Take two for the season opener will be at the ¼ mile high banked Petty International Raceway for the LV Auto Parts & Repair 150! Nineteen (19) elite Super Late Model stars are expected to roll onto the property this weekend.

So many unknowns linger heading into round one. The deck has been reshuffled for 2025 with last year's top drivers not competing full-time, meaning no one knows who will ascend to the top of the throne, at least yet. When the green flag drops at 2pm on Saturday, May 31st, that picture will start to become a little clearer, with fans anxiously watching on the edge of their seats!

SUPER SIX Super Late Model Series Storylines

Opportunity Dominates All Storylines in 2025

There have been four (4) Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series races at Petty International Raceway, and Cory Hall and Ashton Tucker have combined to win all of them.

But plot twist - neither Hall nor Tucker is scheduled to be in the field of competitors this weekend. Thus opportunity lingers, awaiting to be seized by one driver. But who that will be remains to be seen.

Any of the nineteen (19) cars entered will have a shot to win the race, but the race win is not the only open door. That’s because the championship is also for the taking, with Hall and Tucker not competing on opening day.

Fresh faces are sure to be at the front and flipping the entire script from one year ago. In fact, the last time a driver not named Hall or Tucker won a race on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series was when Dylan Gosbee (#16) earned the victory at Oyster Bed Speedway in August of 2023!

So the opportunity is undeniable - and it means everyone is entering the season with a whole lot of unknowns.

Can a veteran driver cement their legacy with a regional championship? Think of what that would mean for the likes of Dave O’Blenis (#48), Chris Duncan (#97), Greg Fahey (#20), Lonnie Sommerville (#23), Kevin Moore (#88), or Kent Vincent (#8).

Or will a driver break out into the spotlight in dramatic fashion? Perhaps that could be a driver like Hudson Weston (#43), Brodie Lewis (#22), Ed Bowlby (#15), Cal Hatfield (#11), Tanton Wooldridge (#01), Caden Tufts (#44), or Brandon Albert (#37).

Regardless, fans will have no shortage of storylines and excitement to follow all summer.

Dylan Gosbee and Ryan Messer Enter With A Lot in Common

Two drivers registered for Saturday have an accolade no one else in the field has - and that’s an Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series victory.

Both Ryan Messer (#1) and 2023 champion Dylan Gosbee (#16) captured checkered flags during the inaugural season, but came up short in the midst of the Hall-Tucker dominance of one year ago.

Both drivers enter the season in similar positions with brand-new cars. Ryan Messer’s #1 Waterfront Pub and Eatery ride is a new CRF chassis for this year, while Gosbee and the NAV Canada-sponsored team have switched to a Fury chassis for 2025.

New cars always bring a degree of uncertainty - often, they deliver strong performances, but there can also be some new car bugs to sort out early on.

These two are solidified as regional stars, and watching what kind of speed they can get with their new chassis will be worth keeping an eye on.

Robbie MacEwen and Darren MacKinnon Teaming Up For Joint Entry!

No one will fault Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series announcer Reegan MacAulay if he mixes these drivers up a time or two this weekend.

Darren MacKinnon’s iconic Shaw’s Towing #18 machine will be piloted by fellow Prince Edward Island star Robbie MacEwen. The #18 is iconic with the MacKinnon family, while the MacEwen family is known for its #40 - but this weekend, the two worlds collide, and could it be a magic recipe for glory?

MacEwen and MacKinnon have found each other battling hard in many races over the years, especially in Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series events at Petty. Both drivers have multiple podiums on the series, but neither team has yet to crack victory lane.

It will be a weird sight, but with MacEwen’s car still being prepared for competition, this dynamic combination is an instant favourite to win. The question will be - can MacEwen adapt to an unfamiliar car against a tough field?

Remember Kent Vincent’s Stellar Season Opener One Year Ago?

One of the biggest storylines from the 2024 season opener at Petty International Raceway? Kent Vincent (#8).

Returning to full-time competition for the first time in years, Vincent showed up for the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series season opener last May at Petty. Vincent showed great speed early, challenging for a podium position before going for a spin mid-race. Not missing a beat, Vincent methodically marched through the field to score a fourth-place effort.

The rest of the season didn’t quite match the early promise, but that will surely fuel the fire for the veteran and former IWK 250 and River Glade International winner. Keep your eye on Kent this weekend!

Devin Snell Impressing at Petty As of Late

Devin Snell (#10) has started to figure out Petty International Raceway as of late!

The Baxters Corner driver typically races on a part-time effort, but last year, when he made the trip to Petty International Raceway, he nearly walked away with a trophy! Snell drove to a fourth-place finish that day after showing top speed throughout practices.

It remains to be seen if the speed shown in 2024 will translate into 2025, but if it does, Snell could earn his way into the spotlight this weekend!

Trio Making Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series Debut; Others To Turn First Laps at Petty!

Three drivers are set to make their Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series debuts this weekend, each with different and unique racing backgrounds.

Caden Tufts (#44) has made headlines recently as he prepares for his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Richmond Raceway this summer. But first, he’ll make his debut on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series with plans to compete full-time for Rookie of the Year. A youngster who has been a standout in the Legends and Bandolero ranks, Tufts will have his first big challenge of the year this weekend.

Brandon Albert (#37) will also be competing for Rookie of the Year. The Prince Edward Island native is the reigning Oyster Bed Speedway Street Stock champion, and he cut his teeth in the grassroots divisions at PEI’s only stock car track. The Albert family is synonymous with racing on the island, and now, Brandon looks to continue the family legacy on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series.

The third driver slated to make their debut is Petty International Raceway Sportsman regular Marcel Leblanc (#30). Leblanc is a multi-time winner at the track and spent last year getting comfortable behind the wheel of a Super Late Model. Now, he’s ready to take on the region’s best in the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series!

Also worth noting are two drivers who, while both have past Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series starts, will turn their first laps in a Super Late Model on the high banks of Petty International Raceway. Cal Hatfield (#11) and Clark Moore (#54) are both former Sportsman drivers who have raced at the track, but a Super Late Model is an entirely different beast, and this weekend, the Lonnie Sommerville Racing drivers hope to find their way into the mix!

Bonus - Rain Rain Go Away

As much as we don’t like to talk about it, it has been the dominant storyline of the season - Mother Nature and all that rain.

But hear us out - all that rain promises to make the season opener even more exciting!

Why? All drivers have been anxiously waiting to get on track, and that anxiousness builds with every passing day. Combine all drivers in the field, and it’s like a pressure cooker - and when the green flag drops, the top will pop off of it.

Needless to say, this will be a season opener to remember.
