Epic Easy-Kleen SLMS Championship Battle Culminates at Petty Saturday!

(August 13th, 2026) - Three months ago, the first chapter of the 2026 season was written at Petty International Raceway. Since the season opening race in May, fans of the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series have been treated to a spectacular summer of excitement, with competitors striking the perfect chord between hard racing and respectful racing while battling for every spot and every win. Now we anxiously await the final chapter to unfold, with the plot gracing us with a championship battle for the ages as we return to Petty to book-end the season.

Three drivers sit in championship contention, separated by a mere eight (8) points. Ryan Messer (#1) leads the way in search of his first career Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series championship, while past champions Tanton Wooldridge (#01) and Dylan Gosbee (#16) lurk in second and third respectively, looking to chase history of their own as the first two-time series champions. On Saturday August 15th, they will join a field of sixteen (16) elite Super Late Model talents on track in the season finale LV Auto Parts and Repair 150 - which doubles as the Super Late Model leg of the prestigious River Glade International. The highest stakes are upon us, and when the green flag waves on qualifying heats at 5pm, it will be a battle for the ages unfolding before our very eyes.

Messer Commands The Field Into Petty In Search of His First Title

For the first time in his Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series career, Ryan Messer (#1) enters the season finale locked into the championship battle. Messer has put together a remarkably consistent campaign through five rounds, highlighted by his victory in the Line-X 150 at Speedway 660 and five consecutive top-five finishes to open the season.

That consistency has Messer on the doorstep of joining elite company. Only Cory Hall (#83) and Ashton Tucker (#2), both in 2024, have previously recorded top-five finishes in all six races of an Easy-Kleen SLMS season. One more on Saturday would put Messer alongside them in the record books — and could come with the biggest prize of all attached.

After celebrating his wedding during the off-weekend, Messer returns to the driver's seat with another potentially life-changing moment awaiting him in just a matter of days. Eight (8) points cover the three championship contenders, but it is Messer who controls the field entering Petty - a track he has three straight top five finishes at - as he looks to cap off a career season with his first Easy-Kleen SLMS championship.

Tanton Wooldridge Looking To Go Back-to-Back After Emotional Season

The road to a potential second consecutive championship has been anything but straightforward for defending champion Tanton Wooldridge (#01).

Wooldridge opened his title defence at Petty International Raceway in May with a runner-up finish and remained firmly entrenched in the championship battle after capturing his first career win in the Easy-Kleen Pressure Systems Ltd. 150 at Speedway 660 a few weeks later.

His entire title defence came into question when he was forced to sit out the July event at Speedway 660 due to medical advice from doctors. A Cory Hall substitute run kept Wooldridge atop the standings until his return, but a trying day at Oyster Bed Speedway for round five dropped Wooldridge below his fellow full-time competitors in points for the first time all season.

Now the defending champion returns to the same track where his season began with an opportunity to pull off a comeback. Sitting second in points entering Saturday, Wooldridge is within striking distance of Messer - only five (5) points back - and has an opportunity to accomplish something never before done — becoming the first back-to-back and first two-time champion in Easy-Kleen SLMS history.

Dylan Gosbee On The Comeback Trail Trying to Rekindle 2023 Magic

Three years removed from becoming the inaugural Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series champion, Dylan Gosbee (#16) has quietly assembled one of the strongest seasons of his career — and now finds himself with an opportunity to make series history.

Gosbee enters Petty third in the standings and remains firmly within the eight-point window separating the championship trio. While the win column has yet to tell the story of his season, the results certainly do. Through five races, Gosbee is posting the best average finish of his Easy-Kleen SLMS career — even better than the numbers he produced during his 2023 championship campaign.

Consistency carried Gosbee to the title three seasons ago, and it has once again put him in position to strike entering the final 150 laps of 2026. It’s been a season of coming from behind for Gosbee - he has passed more cars on track than anyone by a wide margin with some incredibly determined performances by driver and team. A second championship would make Gosbee the first two-time champion in series history — provided he can leapfrog both Wooldridge and Messer when everything is on the line Saturday night in an ultimate comeback.

New Petty Winner Guaranteed for SLMS

One thing is guaranteed before a green flag ever flies Saturday barring any last-minute changes: somebody will add their name to the Easy-Kleen SLMS record books as a winner at Petty International Raceway for the first time.

Across the series' previous visits to the River Glade oval, only Ashton Tucker (#2) and Cory Hall (#83) have visited Easy-Kleen SLMS victory lane. Neither former Petty winner is among Saturday's field, guaranteeing the LV Auto Parts & Repair 150 will produce a first-time Petty winner on the series.

The three championship contenders — Messer, Wooldridge and Gosbee — naturally enter among the names to watch, but they are far from alone. Steve Halpin (#03) and Braden Langille (#26) have each previously stood on the Easy-Kleen SLMS podium at Petty and will be searching for the final step Saturday. Kent Vincent (#8) joins Gosbee as past Maritime Pro Stock Tour winners at the track. With a deep field of talent, it could be anyone's race to win depending how the cards get shuffled on track Saturday evening.

With a championship, a prestigious River Glade International victory and a new name in the Petty record book all up for grabs, there will be plenty more than points motivating the field over 150 laps.

Battle for Fourth in Points, and Other Battles Worth Watching

The championship trio will command much of the attention Saturday, but somehow an even tighter points battle is unfolding immediately behind them.

Steve Halpin (#03) enters the finale fourth in the standings with 410 points. Braden Langille (#26) sits just one marker behind with 409, while Hudson Weston (#43) is another single point back at 408. Three drivers. Three positions. Two points. 

Each of these three drivers were considered perennial contenders for wins and championships this year, but a bad race or two ultimately knocked them behind the top three drivers. But every position means something, and it will be a fight to try and gain every spot in points.

But, the fight doesn't end there.

Greg Fahey (#20) enters seventh with 400 points, holding a razor-thin advantage over Chris Hughes (#32) at 399, while Clark Moore (#54) remains within striking distance with 393 points in ninth. These drivers can realistically jump all the way up inside the top five with strong performances, and will certainly pour the pressure on Halpin, Langille, and Weston.

With battles all throughout, there will be plenty of action to watch on track this weekend!

Clark Moore On Track For Record Rookie Season

Clark Moore (#54) has been steadily building momentum throughout his Castrol Rookie campaign, and on Saturday he has an opportunity to accomplish something no rookie in Easy-Kleen SLMS history has done before.

No rookie has recorded more than three top-10 finishes during a season. Moore has already reached that mark — and has done so in consecutive fashion, carrying a streak of three straight top-10 results into the finale. Another Saturday would give Moore a record-setting fourth top ten and put an exclamation mark on an impressive rookie campaign.

The Castrol Rookie battle isn't over yet, however. Marcel LeBlanc (#30) was an early challenger in the rookie standings and, while he has significant ground to make up entering the finale, Petty may provide an opportunity to close the gap. LeBlanc scored a top-10 finish when the series visited the track in May.

Michael Cormier (#4) will also add another rookie to the mix Saturday. While not contesting the full championship, Cormier will make his third Easy-Kleen SLMS start of the season as the rookie class gets one final opportunity to make its mark on 2026.
