SUPER SIX Super Late Model Series Storylines
Tanton Wooldridge and 01 Motorsports Begin Title Defence & Feature Win Pursuit
2025 was meant to be a growing year for Prince Edward Island’s most elite racing prospect, with the potential for a win if all went well. To say the least, that turned out to be the greatest understatement of the century.
Tanton Wooldridge’s (#01) first full-time season in regional Super Late Model competition was nothing short of spectacular, with precise consistency — zero finishes below 10th — cementing the Summerside driver into the Maritime stock car racing history books as the youngest Super Late Model champion ever at just nineteen (19) years of age, and the third from P.E.I., joining Dave Gorveatt and Dylan Gosbee (#16).
It was a remarkable breakout season, but one statistic stood out above the rest — no feature wins. Wooldridge cracked the podium in all but two features in 2025, and finished as the bridesmaid twice — once at Oyster Bed Speedway and once at Speedway 660. Petty stood as the exception, producing his lowest finishes of the season: fourth and 10th.
After coming painfully close on multiple occasions, Wooldridge and the #01 team head into the new season determined to finally break through in victory lane — outside of heat race competition — while keeping the idea of another championship locked firmly in the back of their minds.
Can Messer or Langille Convert Petty Podiums into Victories?
It was a case of deja vu at both Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series Petty International Raceway races in 2025, with three drivers completing both podiums in June and September — Ashton Tucker, Ryan Messer (#1), and Braden Langille (#26).
Messer — the reigning championship runner-up and three-time top-five points finisher — turned Petty International Raceway from an Achilles heel into one of his best tracks throughout 2025, with back-to-back runner-up Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series finishes, and even a Mike Stevens Memorial 254 podium.
While a DNF at Oyster Bed Speedway was a major setback in Messer’s championship hopes, his newfound momentum at Petty — meaning he’s now finished towards the top at all three Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series host tracks — is another significant step forward in his efforts, and is a sure sign of what may come in 2026.
Sporting a new yellow ServiceMaster Clean Moncton look for the new season, the pride of Harvey, New Brunswick, will be aiming to score his first win since the series’ inaugural event three years ago.
Then there’s Nova Scotia’s Braden Langille, whose return to full-time competition in a Super Late Model after six years with limited starts has been quite impressive.
In his Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series debut in last year’s LV Auto Parts & Repair 150, Langille wheeled his #26 Coldstream Clear Distillery car — which has a fresh livery for 2026 — to a third-place run, and hit copy-paste at the LV Auto Parts & Repair 200.
The former Maritime League of Legends Tour champion had a stellar 2025 season across the Maritimes, and car #26 must be kept an eye on in ‘26, because…
Langille, Halpin, Hughes Form New Full-Time Trio
…he’s joining the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series full-time! For the first time in series history, a Nova Scotia driver will attempt to win the championship - while also attempting to make history as the first Nova Scotia winner on the series.
With multiple strong results at all three Easy-Kleen Super Late Model series host tracks across his career in numerous divisions, including a 2025 Pro Stock 250 top-10 result at Speedway 660 and a plethora of Maritime League of Legends Tour wins, Langille is expected to be a serious threat for wins, podiums, and maybe even the championship in 2026.
And he’s not alone — Langille is just one part of a trio that’s set to take on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series full-time, with three drivers out of all three Maritime provinces coming aboard, each with their own unique storylines and career paths.
Out of New Brunswick, Steve Halpin (#03) will embark on his first full campaign with the series since 2023, having made partial starts ever since. The Saint John driver and two-time Pro Stock 250 runner-up — including last year — is a multi-time podium and top-five finisher who was within the championship mix in 2023 and has since recorded consistent finishes when able to race.
Last year saw a near-podium finish during Petty’s River Glade International, which Halpin aims to build off of as he continues searching for his first big Super Late Model win. This Saturday’s LV Auto Parts & Repair 150 presents a huge opportunity for not only that, but also the start of a breakout season.
Last, but certainly not least, is Prince Edward Island veteran talent Chris Hughes (#32) for East Coast International Racing. A primarily part-time competitor with four top-10 finishes in eight Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series starts, Hughes has the series’ full 2026 schedule marked on his calendar, starting at a place where he’s most remembered for an exciting hard-charger pole challenge performance in 2023.
With decades of experience and a stout resume that includes a home track Late Model championship at Oyster Bed Speedway and many stellar runs across the region, the one thing left to circle on his bucket list is a regional touring series win, something he hopes is finally achieved this season!
Vincent, Gosbee Leaning on Past Petty Success
Amongst Tanton Wooldridge and Chris Hughes in this weekend’s Prince Edward Island contingent are more veterans who know their way around the high banks of Petty International Raceway.
P.E.I.’s “Ironman” Kent Vincent (#8), nearing sixty (60) years young, is back for his third full-time effort with the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series, and knows a thing or two about making a season-opening statement. It was back at the 2024 Fog City Auto Spa 150 when the long-time veteran returned to full-time competition for the first time since 2021, and impressed everybody with consistent pace and a near-podium finish.
While results have been up and down since then, Vincent has had several solid runs, is coming off a top-10 finish to close out the 2025 season, and is always a fan-favourite when he hits the track. Keep an eye on the former IWK 250 and River Glade International winner this weekend!
Inaugural Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series champion Dylan Gosbee and KLR Motorsports enter 2026 hoping to continue their resurgence after a strong bounce-back campaign one year ago.
Following a 2024 season that only featured a pair of top 5 finishes, Gosbee rebounded nicely in 2025, rediscovering the consistency that made the #16 team a weekly front-running contender. Out of the car’s six starts, with Darren MacKinnon playing substitute once, Gosbee finished worse than sixth just once - due to a mechanical failure - en route to a fifth-place points finish.
With a return to victory lane appearing closer and closer each race, Gosbee opens 2026 at a track that has delivered both highs and heartbreak throughout his career. The former Maritime Pro Stock Tour winner at Petty International Raceway has his sights set on recreating the glory he experienced at the River Glade oval thirteen (13) years ago.
Street Stock Superstar Michael Cormier Poised for Easy-Kleen SLMS Debut
Beware — “The Flying Frenchman” has arrived.
Maritime Street Stock superstar Michael Cormier (#4) will become the newest rookie on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series this weekend, with Saturday’s LV Auto Parts & Repair 150 marking his second career Super Late Model regional touring start, his first since 2022.
Tapped to be the next driver for Oval Outlaw Racing in Wayne Smith’s #4 hot rod, Cormier arrives with a reputation as one of Atlantic Canada’s greatest Street Stock talents, with five championships at his home track of Petty International Raceway, three touring championships, and many victories in some of the region’s most prestigious Street Stock events.
Having won a whopping 26 Street Stock features at Petty since 2018, along with a first career Late Model Sportsman victory in 104-lap Mike Stevens Memorial competition in 2025, Cormier could be a dark horse amongst a deep field this weekend. He’ll be one to watch as he also intends to race a new-look Sportsman car!
