(June 8th, 2025) - Ashton Tucker (#2) didn’t have any Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series events on his calendar for 2025. But oh how things changed.
After filing an eleventh hour entry into the LV Auto Parts & Repair 150, the reigning series champion flexed his muscle on Sunday afternoon and raced to a fourth consecutive Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series victory at Petty International Raceway, and the sixth overall victory of his career. Tucker scored the victory in commanding fashion, flashing the speed and skill that vaulted him to the season long championship one season ago.
Tucker took the lead from Braden Langille (#26) - who was making his Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series debut - on lap 42. Langille started on the outside of the front row and led much of the opening stint once he managed to outduel EIT Race Radio Pole Sitter Mike Rodgers (#41) for the top spot. Langille would attempt to hang with Tucker, but Ryan Messer (#1) would eventually overtake Langille for the runner-up position. Despite his best efforts, Messer had to settle for second behind the defending series champ as the checkers waved, with Langille rounding out the podium in an impressive run.
Tanton Wooldridge (#01) ran in the top five all day and would cross the line in fourth for his first career top 5 result. The young PEI driver had to fend off a hard charging Lonnie Sommerville (#23) who was up on the wheel to try and crack the podium on the final restart, but ultimately would wrap the race up in fifth.
Easy-Kleen Pressure Systems Ltd.’s own Chris Duncan (#97) kicked off the day winning the first heat race - his first checkered flag with the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series. Duncan would be joined by inaugural series champion Dylan Gosbee (#16) and eventual runner-up finisher Ryan Messer in earning heat wins. Duncan would battle hard all race long before coming home twelfth, while Gosbee had a strong run but came just short of a top five result.
Only three cautions slowed the race which was completed in 53 minutes and 25 seconds. The race opened with a long green flag run until rookie competitor Brandon Albert (#37) went for a spin just before the halfway mark. Dave O’Blenis (#48) ended up backwards in turn 1 with 40 laps to go after he spun while racing attempting to overtake Nicholas Naugle (#08). The third and final caution came with 15 laps remaining due to a mechanical issue for Hudson Weston (#43).
Twenty-three (23) competitors partook in the LV Auto Parts & Repair 150 - the first event of the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series season. The lead swapped three (3) times between three (3) drivers, with Rodgers and Langille exchanging the top spot in the opening few laps before Langille gained control - but it was Tucker leading the most laps on the day pacing the final 108 circuits.
With his heat win and runner-up finish, Ryan Messer (#1) will be leading the point standings as competitors prepare for round two - which will come quickly with a short turnaround, as the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series heads to Oyster Bed Speedway this upcoming weekend for the Universal Truck and Trailer 150 on Saturday June 14th.
