SUPER SIX Super Late Model Series Storylines
PEI’s Top Young Prospect, Reigning Champ Wooldridge Leads SLMS Into Home Track
Tanton Wooldridge (#01) is asserting himself as a superstar in Maritime Super Late Model racing - and he is ready to bring that momentum into his home track at Oyster Bed Speedway.
The reigning Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series champion scored a podium finish in both Oyster Bed Speedway races in 2025 en route to his historic title - but just two weeks ago, the glass slipper finally fit and Wooldridge became a feature winner on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series, conquering the Easy-Kleen Pressure Systems Ltd 150 at Speedway 660 and becoming the first PEI feature winner since 2023.
At 20 years of age, Wooldridge and 01 Motorsports lead the points as they seek to defend their title - but their success is garnering plenty of attention, particularly at home. Now, this team seeks to earn a taste of victory in front of the hometown crowd. And it very well could happen this week. Prior to earning the win at Speedway 660, Wooldridge had finishes of second and third in his previous starts at the track - ironically, he has the exact same finishes in his most recent races at Oyster Bed Speedway. Coincidence, or fate? We’ll find out this weekend!
Dylan Gosbee Is Up On The Wheel in 2026
Nobody has passed more cars thus far in 2026 than 2023 Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series champion Dylan Gosbee. The winner of both MPI “Up On The Wheel Awards” in 2026, Gosbee and the KLR Motorsports team have found speed and momentum - both of which they look to carry into their home track this weekend.
In what could be another ironic situation - Gosbee’s finishes in the first two races are third and fourth - the same two finishes he had in 2023 to start his championship season. Could another championship run be in the cards for this team?
MacEwen’s New Car, MacKinnon’s Return Among Packed PEI Storylines
Prince Edward Island comes out in full force every time the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series, and the Universal Truck and Trailer 150 is going to be no different! While full-time Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series competitors including Wooldridge, Gosbee, Kent Vincent (#8) and Chris Hughes (#32) lead the charge, a strong contingent of hometown stars will enter including five (5) making their first SLMS starts of 2026.
Among the drivers in the field includes Robbie MacEwen (#40), who debuts his new car at home for the first time! A multi-time podium finisher on the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series, MacEwen and his team acquired a new car over the off-season, and are seeking big things.
Darren MacKinnon (#18) will make his first start of 2026 this weekend too. MacKinnon has a pair of runner-up finishes in Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series competition at Oyster Bed Speedway, but the win has been a carrot dangling he has yet to grab. This weekend will be an emotion filled drive for MacKinnon - it will be the first race since the passing of his mother over the off-season, giving an extra push to get up on the wheel.
Reigning Castrol Rookie of the Year Brandon Albert (#37) will make his first start of 2026 alongside Mark Leclair (#51) who nearly captured a top ten finish in limited starts one year ago. Also returning to the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series for the first time since 2023 will be Oyster Bed Speedway veteran Allison MacKinnon (#07) in what he hopes will be a triumphant return.
Hurricane Hall Looking For A Category 5 Impact on Prince Edward Island
Oyster Bed Speedway has never seen a driver as dominant in the Super Late Model ranks as Cory Hall (#83). The winner of the last four (4) consecutive Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series races at the track, Hall has a tight grip on the competition on the PEI bullring.
When it comes to the Universal Truck and Trailer 150, Hall has been untouchable the past two seasons. In both editions of the race, he has led every single lap en route to victory. Making his first Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series start of 2026, Hall will look to pick up where he left off and keep his stranglehold over Oyster Bed Speedway.
A Stout Field Ready For Battle Includes Mainland Stars
To beat PEI drivers for the championship, mainland stars will have to escape Oyster Bed Speedway with a strong run. One driver looking for a strong run will be Greg Fahey (#20) - who brings momentum of his first career podium finish. Fahey had a stellar run last year in the Universal Truck and Trailer 150, and currently leads the series with the longest streak of 10 straight top 10 finishes - and they are closing in on the record of 12 straight races set by Robbie MacEwen in 2023 and 2024.
Ryan Messer (#1) is a former podium finisher at Oyster Bed Speedway - but he’s chasing his first podium of 2026. Consecutive top 5 finishes have the Harvey driver knocking on the door, but a trophy has eluded this team thus far.
When you look the field - Braden Langille (#26) is fresh off a strong podium run at Speedway 660, Steve Halpin (#03) had strong runs on PEI back in 2023, and Hudson Weston (#43) has been quietly posting consistent top 10 results all season. These are just a few of the drivers slated to try and take trophies back across the Confederation Bridge this weekend!
Castrol Rookie of the Year Battle Heating Up
It’s a heads up race for the 2026 Castrol Rookie of the Year award through the first two events of the season. A pair of New Brunswick drivers are tied for the honour heading into Oyster Bed Speedway - a venue each will compete at for the first time this weekend during the Universal Truck and Trailer 150.
Clark Moore (#54) and Marcel Leblanc (#30) find themselves tied so far. Leblanc took the lead after a strong top ten effort at Petty, but Moore found the upper hand at Speedway 660. Oyster Bed Speedway presents a true variable for these rookie contenders, creating an intriguing storyline for this weekend!
