(September 28th, 2025) - Ashton Tucker (#2) returned to Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series competition for the first time since June, and it paid off in a victorious way. Tucker came out on top of an epic duel with Ryan Messer (#1) in the LV Auto Parts & Repair 200, running side-by-side and swapping the lead back and forth over the final 80 laps. Messer would settle for second to cap off a strong year and climb the point standings, while Braden Langille (#26) rounded out the podium in third in the season finale race which also served as part of the prestigious River Glade International!
While Tucker - the 2024 champion of the series - celebrated his record setting seventh career series victory, a new Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series champion was crowned in PEI’s Tanton Wooldridge (#01). Entering the LV Auto Parts & Repair 200 needing to finish twelfth or better to clinch the title, Wooldridge ran in the top five much of the early going, but struggled to regain track position after a pit stop. Nevertheless, the young phenom got the job done with a tenth place finish - his sixth in six races this season - to not only win his first championship, but also make history as the youngest Super Late Model champion in the Maritimes at 19 years, 10 months, and 2 days of age.
The win didn’t come easy for Tucker as part of a day full of adversity. It all started on the pace laps to the first heat race when the #2 car suddenly veered onto pit road. It was a broken axle that took Tucker out of heat race competition, and relegated him to near shotgun on the starting grid.
While Tucker was pit side, all eyes were on valuable championship points up for grabs in the heat races. There would not be a change in margin at the top, as the top two in points both earned heat race victories in Wooldridge and Dylan Gosbee (#16). They would be joined by Braden Langille (#26), who not only grabbed a heat race win, but also took the EIT Race Radios Pole Award.
Langille led the field to the green flag alongside Kevin Moore (#88) who returned to action with the series after his incredible wreck in the Easy-Kleen Pressure Systems Ltd. 150 in August at Speedway 660. Langille sprinted out to the lead in the early laps and paced the field around the high banked oval.
After leading the first 32 laps, Langille would be overtaken by Ryan Messer (#1) for the top spot. Messer would continue to lead the way into a scheduled caution to end the first 75-laps of the race as part of a unique format for the River Glade International. Many drivers took advantage of this yellow to head pit side - including Tucker - but the race restarted and the battle resumed between Messer and Langille. Messer would resume leading as Tucker marched up to third when a yellow came just past lap 120 for a problem for Chris Duncan (#97). Both Messer and Langille would choose the top on the ensuing restart, opening the front row up for Tucker, who had wheeled up to third after pitting, to slide to the bottom of the front row.
Tucker would grab the lead from Messer for the first time on the restart, and lead for about twenty laps before a couple quick yellows - including one for issues plaguing the driver who entered second in points in Dylan Gosbee - gave Messer the chance to reclaim the lead heading into the lap 150 caution, setting up a Saturday night shootout for the win. Messer would show the way through a couple restarts, but Tucker would inevitably regain the lead for the final time with 35 laps to go and drive to the win over Messer and Langille, with Steve Halpin (#03) and Dave O’Blenis (#48) completing the top five, with Wooldridge crossing the line tenth to secure the championship, and Brandon Albert (#37) crossing in eleventh to lock-up rookie of the year honours.
The race was slowed by eight (8) cautions and took one hour, thirty-two minutes, and sixteen seconds to complete. The lead changed hands six times between three drivers, with Messer, Langille, and Tucker being lap leaders - with Messer leading the lion's share of the laps.
With that, the 2025 Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series season is complete. It was another stellar season with six exciting races culminating with great points battles and a well deserved champion. Attention now turns to the 2025 banquet and celebrations of a successful season, as well as plans for year four in 2026!
