Ashton Tucker Strikes Back for Old Fashion Meat Market 150 Victory!

(July 7th, 2024) - After watching his multi-race win streak be ended at the hands of a familiar foe in Cory Hall (#83) at Oyster Bed Speedway, Ashton Tucker (#2) struck back with a convincing triumph during Sunday’s Old Fashion Meat Market 150 for the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series.

Tucker captured what is his series leading third victory of the season and fourth career victory during Sunday's 150 lap affair. The win enabled Tucker to maintain his points lead, but with Hall once again posting a tough runner-up finish - and the duo splitting heat race victories - the margin remains just a mere four points. The championship battle continues to have Robbie MacEwen (#40) in the picture, as the third ranked driver in points would cross the line with a third place finish after earning the EIT Race Radios Pole Award, as he continues to keep the top two honest week in and week out.

Devin Snell (#10) in his first start of the season posted a strong fourth place result after a long and hard fought battle with Ryan Messer (#1) who rounded out the top five..

It was a hot and humid day for the Old Fashion Meat Market 150, which was postponed to Sunday afternoon due to rain showers which affected New Brunswick throughout the afternoon and evening Saturday. The hot conditions were challenging for drivers to battle, particularly over the course of what was a record setting fast paced race slowed by just one caution.

MacEwen started on the pole and quickly got the lead, and would hang on for the opening part of the run over Snell and Lonnie Sommerville (#23). MacEwen would lead the first 63 laps of the race, before Tucker made his move and overtook the driver of the #40 car for the lead. Tucker would get up on the wheel as Hall was not far behind, and would begin working on MacEwen for the runner-up spot about ten laps later.

The pivotal moment of the race came on lap 121, when Sommerville slowed on the track drawing the race's lone caution. The ensuing restart saw Hall put it all on the line as he would nose ahead of Tucker and lead several laps, but the Brad Silliker Motorsports machine was too strong and would jump back in front on the outside en route to victory.

Four drivers - led by defending champion Dylan Gosbee (#16) along with Ryan Raynes (#94), Gary Elliott (#36) and Curtis Collins (#27) all posted DNF’s for a variety of reasons after heading pit side as attrition started to play a factor.

Hall and Tucker split the heat race victories to kick-off the day. The Old Fashion Meat Market 150 was completed in 42 minutes and 1 second, marking the fastest race in series history - the third consecutive race this feat was accomplished.

It will be a few weeks before action resumes, as round five of six will bring the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series back to Oyster Bed Speedway for the Chapman Brothers Construction 150 presented by Hynes Paving on Saturday August 3rd. A 6pm start will be on the slate for that night.
